Students smiling

Undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members are all members of one community in the Departments of Music. While it is natural for students to form close friendships with others in their major, there are many opportunities to form bonds with students in other majors, in such settings as Harmony and Ear Training class, ensemble rehearsals, and at Studio X, our weekly convocation for all undergraduate students. As part of the larger University community, students also have many opportunities to interact with students outside of the Departments of Music.

Undergraduate students have many opportunities to interact with graduate students. Freshmen perform on-stage with graduate students in our opera productions, and undergraduates also perform alongside graduate students in Orchestra and Chamber Choir. This interaction with graduate students allows for a valuable learning experience not available at many university departments of music.
