Fall 2018

5 September: Annual Beginning-of-the-School-Year Musicology Reception. 11 am, Latin American Music Center (Ward Hall, room 138).

5–6 October: Fall Meeting of the Capital Chapter of the American Musicological Society (joint with the Allegheny and Mid-Atlantic Chapter), University of Delaware, at with Dr. Andrew H. Weaver is giving a paper. Click here for information on the program and local arrangements.

1–4 November: Annual Meeting of the American Musicological Society, San Antonio, Texas.

20 November: AMS Lecture Series at the Library of Congress: Hye-jung Park (Ohio State University), “From World War to Cold War: Music in America’s Radio Propaganda in Korea.” 7 pm, Montpelier Room, Madison Building.

 

Spring 2018

14 April: Spring Metting of the Capital Chapter of the American Musicological Society, Howard University.  Click here for the program and information on local arrangements.

19 April: Third Annual Catholic University of America Research Day, at which Ph.D. students Matthew Gabay and Natalie Barsoum are giving presentations and undergraduate music history major Flannery Jamison is giving a poster presentation. 12 May:  University Commencement Exercises.

15 May: AMS Lecture Series at the Library of Congress: Daniel M. Callahan (Boston College), "Bernstein Conducting Himself.7 pm, Montpelier Room, Madison Building.

 

Fall 2017

6 September: Annual Beginning-of-the-School-Year Musicology Reception. 11 am, Latin American Music Center (Ward Hall, room 138).

8 September: Inaugural performance of the new concert series Concerts Spirituels, a monthly series of lunchtime sacred music concerts, taking place at 1:00 in Caldwell Auditorium. This first concert features sopranos Rachel Barham (CUA alumna and Mullen Library staff) and Missy Curl (current M.A. student in musicology) performing chant and seventeenth-century motets for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The other concerts this semester take place on October 20, November 10, and December 1. Click here for more information.

20 September: The Sistine Chapel Choir gives a free performance at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception at 6 pm, with a workshop for CUA students that day at 10 am.

14 October: Fall Meeting of the Capital Chapter of the American Musicological Society, Shenandoah University. Click here for information on the program and local arrangments.

9-12 November: Annual Meeting of the American Musicological Society, Rochester, at which CUA alumni Karen Ulsin (Ph.D. 2015), Christopher Bowen (M.M. 2011), and Rachel McNellis (B.M. 2011, M.A. 2014) are giving presentations. We will be meeting up at the conference registration desk for a CUA breakfast at 8 am on Saturday.
