Rebecca Ostermann has a broad experience with choral conducting, teaching, and music production, including in higher education, community groups, and professional performing organizations. Prof. Ostermann has taught a wide range of coursework in choral music, music theory, and music education, serving as faculty and choral conductor at Ave Maria University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Dickinson College, and Kutztown University, before joining the choral faculty at Catholic University of America in 2020. Ms. Ostermann worked with community choral ensembles including the Greater Baton Rouge Children’s Chorus and the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida. Currently based in Philadelphia, Ms. Ostermann enjoys musical collaborations with professional and avocational musicians as the music director at the historic Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Overbrook. She joined the production staff at Opera Philadelphia in Fall 2017 for O17, the opera company’s first opera festival and an internationally acclaimed success, and the Pennsylvania Ballet’s music staff for the 2019-2020 season. Prof. Ostermann holds a BMus from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and MM in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University. She is currently a DMA candidate in Choral Conducting at University of South Carolina.
