Degree Requirements to Satisfy the Music Teacher Certification. Number of Years to Complete the Degree: 3 years maximum.

Audition, Prerequisites, and Exams

  • Ten-minute proficiency audition on the student’s major instrument or voice prior to admission
  • Undergraduate Prerequisites (See letter of admission)
  • Theory Placement (Harmony and Aural skills)
  • Music History Placement
  • PCASE (formerly Praxis I) (before taking MUS 551 or MUS 558)
  • Piano Proficiency
