General Information

Freshmen

  • First-Year students should consult the orientation website for all matters pertaining to orientation.
  • All Freshman students will be informed of their adviser during the Orientation period. 
  • All freshmen need to have 30 credits completed by the end of the freshman year. Please ask your advisor about other classes that can fit in your schedule.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT INCOMING FRESHMAN MUSIC MAJORS WILL BE REGISTERED FOR THIER REQUIRED COURSES BY THE MUSIC SCHOOL. 
  • All incoming freshmen must take the Theory Evaluation Test online. Please refer to your registration packet for more details on how to access the test.
  • Please make sure your CUA e-mail is activated and functioning. It will be important that you check your CUA e-mail daily as important information will exclusively be sent via the CUA e-mail.

Placement Exams for New Graduate Students

  • All incoming graduate students must take the Music History Placement Exam and the Music Theory Placement Exam, as well as attend the Orientation Meeting. Incoming graduate students should consult the above links regarding the contents of these exams.
  • Orientation for incoming graduate music students. Incoming graduate students are advised that there is a university-wide online orientation program. Please check the graduate studies website for more details.
