Comprehensive Examinations
Comprehensive examinations are scheduled with the written approval of the adviser. They are required in the areas of 1) theory and analysis, and 2) repertory and compositional practice after 1900.
Graduation Recital
A 30-minute recital of original chamber music is presented prior to graduation, typically in the final semester of study. Faculty approve completed scores for the recital 30 days in advance.
Thesis Requirement
The required M.M. thesis for Composition consists of a score of an extended work for orchestra or large instrumental ensemble. The university maintains detailed guidelines for the preparation and deposit of masters' theses.
