  • Alvaro Palau from Cali Colombia, Danced with The Washington Ballet for 10 years, National Ballet of Venezuela for two years and the Cali Ballet in his native Colombia for two years. Mr. Palau toured internationally with all three companies, dancing in festivals such as Havana Festival in Cuba, Festivals in Roma and Florence in Italy, Umbrella Festival in South Africa, International Festival in Miami, Florida, AIDS Foundation in Austin Texas; and performances at the White House and in the Memorial Day show, Washington, D.C. (2003). Galas and awards include 1 st prize Arts Competition Colombia and Best Classical Dancer Casa del Artista de Venezuela. His repertoire includes Classical ballets and works choreographed by such artist as Balanchine, Forsythe, Duato, Tudor, Mark Morris and Tharp. Mr. Palau received his training at Colombian Ballet Institute. He studied at workshops in Cuba, New York with David Howard, and the summer program at the Houston School of Ballet. More recently he has been featured in productions of the Washington National Opera, Colorado Opera, two short films by Jennifer Schwed, Carmen Tango with the Pan American Symphony Orchestra, Bowen McCauley Dance company and performed and choreographed works for Gala Hispanic Theatre, Source Theater Idomeneo, and Dance Loft 14. Mr. Palau has taught numerous ballet dance outreach programs and summer workshops throughout the metropolitan area. Currently dancing with Dana Tai Soon Burgess, teaching at Catholic University of America and Séber Method Academy and founded Washington Dance DC Summer Intensive.
