  • Soprano Keesun Kwon received her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) and Master of Music (MM) from The Catholic University and her Bachelor of Music (BM) from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.

    While maintaining a vibrant private music studio for more than 20 years educating, mentoring and tutoring students in voice and piano, Dr. Kwon has also performed extensively around the United States. Her many performances have included the roles of Violetta in La Traviatta, Gilda in Rigoletto, Adina in L’elisir d’amore and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. She appeared as a soprano soloist for the Millennium Stage concert ‘Songs of the Forgotten War’ at the Kennedy Center and as a soloist with Hines-Lee Opera Ensemble for the Opera Gala concert at The Terrace Theatre of the Kennedy Center. She has served as the soprano soloist for Fauré’s Requiem with the Catholic University concert orchestra and chorus. Dr. Kwon has performed Brahmes’ Ein Deutches Requiem, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Handel’s Foundling Hospital Anthem with the Harford Choral Society. She has regularly performed as a soloist for the Bach in Baltimore concert series. Dr. Kwon made her New York debut with the Gateway Classical Music Society, Riverside Opera Company and has performed at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. She has been seen as a soloist for the Holocaust Remembrance Event at Lincoln Theatre in D.C and the Duo Concert at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College. She sang the Korean National Anthem for South Korean President Moon during his official visit to the United States at an event at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA.

    Dr. Kwon has received many honors, awards and recognitions having won and achieved top placements at numerous competitions around the country. She is a grant recipient of the Individual Artist Award from Maryland Arts Council, Baltimore Arts and Humanities, was an award winner for the Gerda Lissner Foundation in New York and a recipient of the Peabody Career Development Grant. Dr. Kwon’s performances have been praised by The Washington Post, highlighted by The Baltimore Sun and lauded by The Washington Times.
