A prevalent pedagogue and conductor in the DC metro area, Brendan Harper is blessed to live his career in a rich and diverse music community. As Associate Conductor of Choirs, Mr. Harper helps lead Catholic University’s Choir by teaching and conducting throughout the year. Recently, Harper was appointed Music Director of Sacred Heart Church in Maryland, where he is actively growing their music program by organizing public concerts, vocal coaching, and overseeing three separate choirs for church services.
He also holds the position of Principal Conductor and Assistant Music Director of Greater Annapolis Ballet in Maryland, where he conducts ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Cinderella. Mr. Harper also maintains his own private piano studio, which he has been teaching for nearly a decade. He is proud to teach a variety of students of different backgrounds, skills, and ages.
Harper holds a Dual Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Conducting from The Catholic University of America. He has performed nationally and internationally including Vienna, Austria, The Kennedy Center, the Music Center at Strathmore, The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Princeton Theological Seminary, and various other locations along the Eastern shore. He has studied under the tutelage of several great musicians including Ivo Kaltchev, Murry Sidlin, Simeone Tartaglione, James Jordan, and Timothy McDonnell.
While residing in Arlington, Virginia, Harper began his most recent position as Assistant Conductor of The Serenity Chorus, a new community choir in northern Virginia. There he works closely with the music director to bring immersive experiences to the audience through choral repertoire.
