Robert RicksProfessor Emeritus Robert Ricks (d. 2010) taught at Catholic University for over four decades.  He offered graduate courses in music theory and music history, conducted the symphony orchestra for over twenty years, chaired the D.M.A. program in orchestral instruments, and at the time of his passing, was completing a book on composers’ use of certain orchestral instruments to represent ideas and images in their music.

In memory of her husband, Mrs. Ricks endowed the Robert Ricks Memorial Scholarship Fund, designed to support graduate students in orchestral instruments.  Donations to this fund honor the legacy of a wonderful friend and colleague while supporting the next generation of musicians.
