Please note: The School of Music is not accepting applications to the DMA in Sacred Music.
Applications to the Master in Music in Sacred Music, including pre-screening materials listed below, are due by December 1 for priority consideration (extensions may be granted upon request). Fully completed applications including pre-screening media are required before an invitation to audition can be offered. Students who advance past the pre-screening stage will be invited for an on-campus audition on January 28, 2019.
All students applying to graduate programs in Sacred Music must also apply to the University through the Graduate Studies Division. In addition to the requirements and prerequisites listed in the Catholic University bulletin of Graduate Announcements, a complete application for the programs in Sacred Music include:
- Letter of Application
- Curriculum Vitae
- Personal Statement relating candidate's professional goals to the practice of Sacred Music
- Pre-Screening Media:
- For organists: video recording of A Prelude and Fugue by J.S. Bach; a major 19th/early 20th-century piece; a piece written after 1930. For the live audition: The same categories, but at least one of the pieces should be different. Other live audition requirements will be stipulated upon invitation to campus.
- For choral conductors: 20-30 minutes of conducting video (where the candidate is visible from the front) demonstrating works of contrasting styles; it is preferred to show examples of both rehearsal and performance if possible.
NOTE: All pre-screening videos must be provided as links to YouTube, Vimeo, or a similar platform. (For YouTube, select “unlisted” if you wish for your sample to remain unavailable for public viewing.) CDs and DVDs will not be accepted.
